An Oklahoma man has been accused of posing as a psychic so he could lure his daughter’s friend into the back of his car, rape the girl and then demand she send him nude photos.
According to the victim, identified only as “SS” in police reports, Andrew Burns, 36, the father of one of her friends, had raped her on three separate occasions. The story that SS told the police about his interactions with Burns is particularly horrifying.
Shortly before May 2022, SS had gone to Burns’ home in Jay, Oklahoma, about 90 miles east of Tulsa, for a sleepover with her daughter, identified as “EB.” Both girls were 11 years old at the time. While there, SS received a strange text message from someone named “Casey.” Casey claimed she was psychic and warned the SS that “her family members would be hurt or killed” if she did not “get along or have sex with” Burns, according to the affidavit. Burns allegedly entered the room, claiming he had received a similar message. He expressed sympathy for the experience, but told SS to sleep on the couch that night. She complied.
At some point that night, Burns woke the girl up and lured her to his car, which was parked outside, according to the report. Once there, Burns allegedly began to digitally rape the girl. When she complained that it “hurt so much,” he orally raped her, she claimed. He only stopped when SS lied and claimed EB was watching them through the window, according to the affidavit. “Casey” texted her the next day to say Burns’ mind had been wiped.
A similar violation occurred later that summer, SS claimed, when she went back to EB’s house for another sleepover. Once again, SS received a strange text message from a psychic, and once again, Burns allegedly talked her out of his car. Once there, Burns allegedly raped SS digitally and orally.
The third rape, which allegedly occurred in August, was also the most violent. According to SS, Burns picked her up for EB’s birthday party about half an hour early so they could be alone. Then, in EB’s room, Burns allegedly forced the SS to undress, threatening to hurt his brother if he refused to comply. He then took off his clothes, laid them on the bed, and then put “his penis inside [her] cooch,” the affidavit said. SS recalled Burns putting his hand over her mouth and her starting to cry because she couldn’t breathe. She then heard Burns moaning before passing out. She woke up fully clothed , he said.
SS also alleged that Burns had repeatedly contacted her using different numbers and demanded that she send him nude photos of herself. He promised her that if she sent the photos, she would not be raped. After she sent him photos of her naked body, but with her face blackened, he threatened to show the photos to her grandparents if she didn’t send him more, she claimed.
Another mutual friend of SS and EB confirmed that he had seen “strange” text messages and that Burns was “doing things to him forcefully,” the affidavit said. EB had also received strange messages about getting drunk with SS, but these messages were not sexual in nature.
When confronted later that month, Burns denied all the allegations. Police then seized her phone and discovered several images, including nude photos the girl allegedly sent, as well as a photo of the girl’s bare genitalia, which Burns allegedly took after he raped her in August.
Burns was arrested Friday and charged with a slew of felonies: first-degree rape, forcible sodomy, rape with an instrument and solicitation of a minor for indecent exposure. He was booked into the Delaware County Jail, but posted $100,000 bail and was released. It is unclear when he is scheduled to appear in court.
