A Colorado congresswoman's controversy intensified Tuesday when her ex-husband was arrested on multiple felony charges stemming from a restaurant standoff, one of which involved a firearm.
Just days removed from conflicting reports about an altercation between Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, the father of her four children was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Garfield County Jail.
According to the Daily Beast, which confirmed The charges during a phone call with a prison official, Mr. Boebert faced six charges, five of them misdemeanors and one misdemeanor count of trespassing in the third degree.
The other charges filed against him were third-degree assault, prohibited use of weapons, obstructing a peace officer, harassment and disorderly conduct for which he was released on $2,500 bond.
Amid the ongoing investigation after a confrontation Saturday between the couple, it was unclear whether Tuesday's arrest was related to allegations that Deputy Boebert had punched her ex-husband twice in the face.
As reported, Mr. Boebert had called the police to the Miner's Claim restaurant in Silt, Colorado after claiming she had been the “victim of domestic violence.”
Although the congresswoman had denied claims that she had punched her ex in the face, the Beast had reported that she confirmed that “the details of the altercation on American Muckrakers were accurate and that his ex-wife l 'he had “stabbed” in the face several times. Jayson Boebert also claimed to have a witness to the incident and said he retracted his claim that the police were too aggressive with him.”

“I respect our officers and appreciate what they have to endure. I should not have said anything negative towards them,” said Mr. Boebert. “I was unhappy.”
He had also said he had no intention of pressing charges against the mother of his children, but his story contrasted with that of the Colorado lawmaker.
In her own statement about Saturday's incident, which followed an earlier encounter when she had gone to pick up one of her children from her ex-husband's home, the congresswoman said: “This is a sad situation because of everything that follows escalating and another reason. I'm moving. I didn't punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested. I will consult with my attorney about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all my legal options.”
The incident was not the first conflict in the tumultuous marriage that ended in 2023, as Mr. Boebert was sentenced to seven days in jail on a charge of domestic violence against his then-wife-to-be in 2004. That same year, she was charged with third-degree assault, criminal mischief and consumption of alcohol during an incident that led to for her to damage his house and scratch his face.
At the time of this publication, the lawmaker, who had announced she was running to represent a new district in 2024, had not yet released a statement about her ex-husband's arrest.
