Actor Kurt Russell was trending on social media on Tuesday, and it appears the reason was a resurfaced interview in which he gave a brutal reality check about “gun culture.”
Russell was praised on X-Tuesday as further backlash came for his gun control sentiment in a 2015 interview.
The prolific movie star is heard in a clip posted on social media that is said to be from an interview with Hollywood Elsewhere's Jeffrey Wells while promoting his film, Quentin Tarantino's “The Hateful Eight.” seconds to a HuffPost story at the time.
In the discussion of the “Quentin cult” of violence, Wells brought up the issue of gun control and was quickly buried.
Russell had no progressive thoughts from the writer when asked about the so-called gun culture, which the actor said he just doesn't understand.
Explaining that guns are a “metaphor” for “disenfranchised white boys”, Wells was interrupted by Russell saying: “You can say whatever you want, I don't agree with that.”
Kurt Russell's short version of gun control is basically “you're going to take it from my friend with cold, dead hands.”
I was with this writer awake.
I didn't know it was that cool, but it makes sense since Tombstone is the greatest western movie in human history. pic.twitter.com/Z0siGcGg7z

“It's none of my business.” the “Tombstone” star added as Wells tried to explain.
“If you think gun control, or anything like that, is going to change a terrorist's point of view, I think you're out of your mind. I think somebody is. I think that's crazy,” said Russell, who he is now 72 years old.
“The problem we're having now is we don't have the concepts of how to turn it around and say, 'You know, you might think you've worried me about what you're going to do.' But man, you're about to find out what I'm going to do and that's going to worry you a lot more,” he said.
“And that's what we need,” Russell continued. “This will change the concept of gun culture, as you call it, into something of a reality.”
“I understand,” Wells said before landing in another well as he brought up how those on the “no-fly list” with terrorist connections can get a gun “very easily.”
Russell jumped.
“They can also make a bomb quite easily. They can also take knives and stab you,” he pointed out. “What are you going to do about it? They can also take cars and run you over with them. What are you going to do about it?”
Wells was momentarily speechless.
“So what are you going to do? Ban it all?” Russell asked. “That's not the answer.”
He laughed out loud when Wells suggested that some “checks” could be put in place.
The actor concluded, “You and I don't agree.”
“I understand you think you can control the behavior of people who are dead bent on taking your way of life, I think you can control that,” he added as the writer could be heard disagreeing. “And there's only one thing you can do about it and that's say, 'No, mate, that's not going to happen.'
At this point, the interview ended abruptly.
“Nice talking to you!” Russell replied.
The nearly decade-long interaction caught the attention of social media where Russell's name started trending on Tuesday.

Many X users agreed with his words and applauded the truth bombs he dropped in the clip.
Don't give up one bit of our constitutional freedoms to politicians, or mindless progressives, not one bit of freedom.
Kurt Russell direct fire.

Kurt Russell is a bad ass. I hope he speaks more and brings some sanity to the Hollywood crowd. pic.twitter.com/FG1BTURlWR

Kurt Russell can't be canceled and it bothers them.

I love him even more now. It's just common sense, something you rarely see from Hollywood.

Kurt Russell became my favorite actor. He pokes holes in the blog writer's thoughts on gun control, talks reality to the guy who's drinking the Woke Kool-Aid. He also understands that sometimes you can't talk sense to wookies. He is a libertarian and does not engage in politics. https://t.co/vFivHjgFRn
