Kohl’s is the latest retailer to face criticism for offering LGBTQ+ baby clothes, prompting outrage and calls for a boycott.
The department store’s bodysuits, emblazoned with the LGBTQ+ pride flag, have sparked backlash from shoppers who claim the company caters to the Woke crowd. Kohl’s, which has already seen its stock cut by nearly half by 2022, is now facing a backlash similar to Bud Light and Target.
One Twitter account summed up the sentiment by stating, “Looks like another company needed Bud-lighting!”

The controversy arose when social media users shared their disappointment with Kohl’s for selling LGBTQ+ jumpsuits both online and in stores. The clothes, designed specifically for Pride month in June, sparked a wave of negative comments.
Criticism gained steam when the popular Twitter account “End Wokeness” condemned the LGBTQ+ baby onesie, noting that Kohl’s apparently failed to learn from the backlash faced by Bud Light and Target.
It’s been happening for years. I see this stuff in every store I go to. Michael’s, JoAnn’s, Macy’s, cvs, kohl’s, target, everywhere. Except hobby lobby. Luckily, they don’t carry that kind of merchandise.

The controversy spread further when YouTuber “Twisted Luck Truth” posted a video criticizing Kohl’s merchandise in the store, which was later removed from TikTok.
Featured items included a T-shirt with the message “BELONG BELIEVE BE PROUD” accompanied by a silhouette of Mickey Mouse. Conservative influencer Benny Johnson questioned why Kohl’s would sell “Pride Merch” for three-month-old babies.

On the other hand, a liberal content creator defended Kohl’s, urging the company to stand its ground and maintain its collection of pride.
“Kohl’s please stand your ground and keep your collection proud. I’m sick of the gun hungry bigots acting like not being straight is killing kids when we all know what happens EVERY SINGLE DAY ON THIS COUNTRY”.
This controversy comes amid ongoing boycott attempts against several brands that have shown support for the LGBTQ+ community, with critics interpreting it as an extension of Woke ideology. In particular, Bud Light recently faced a significant loss in market value of nearly $16 billion following the backlash against its campaign featuring transgender figure Dylan Mulvaney.
Target, another company hit by similar boycotts, pulled some of its controversial Pride collection items, but emphasized its continued commitment to LGBTQ+ causes. Target has suffered a $10 billion loss in market value following a growing backlash over its Pride-themed line of children’s clothing.
