Knife-wielding suspect charges at Las Vegas cops, gets shot 7 times [VIDEOS]

Shae Houston Courtroul, 57, brandished a knife and advanced on officers, leading to an officer-involved shooting, Assistant Sheriff Jamie Prosser confirmed.

The incident occurred at 4:28 a.m. Thursday at the corner of Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road while two officers were involved in an unrelated pedestrian stop. When the pedestrian fled, additional assistance was called and two more officers were brought to the scene.

Approaching the four officers in a white Nissan Kicks, Courtroul got out of the vehicle wearing a hospital gown and brandishing a black folding knife, according to police reports.

Body camera footage revealed Courtroul disembarking from the moving vehicle, prompting officers to ask him to drop the knife. However, he continued to approach the officers in an aggressive manner, resulting in the use of deadly force, according to Prosser.

During the encounter, officers Jeremy Johnson, 32, and Jacobo Solis, 22, each fired four rounds, while officers Dominick Nelson, 26, and Andrew Collins, 39, fired three and six , respectively. Courtroul suffered seven gunshot wounds, leaving him in critical condition, though his condition has since been stabilized at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

Before the altercation, Courtroul had checked himself into a medical facility but left against the advice of hospital staff, Prosser added.
