White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre discussed President Joe Biden's decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race during an appearance on “The View” Tuesday.

“I think the letter, if you read it right, there is no twist. I really believed it was the right thing to do at this time,” Jean-Pierre said. “He really believed that it was the right thing for this country, I'm getting excited, the right thing for this country, the American people, is to give it to someone incredibly qualified, right? He said himself that the reason why he chose Vice President Kamala Harris is because he believed she would be ready to lead from day one.
“And so he believed he was the right person to take over the campaign and he is. And while all of us, difficult for many of us, we're incredibly proud of this president, we trust his leadership, we trust in his judgment and we will continue to stand behind him as long as he continues to lead this country.” continued the press secretary.
