Kevin McCarthy reveals what Dems said privately about Kamala Harris during her days in the Senate

Former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy revealed on Fox News on Thursday what Democratic members of Vice President Kamala Harris' home state said privately about her during her time as a senator.

McCarthy appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” to discuss the Democratic Party's support around Harris as the new presumptive presidential nominee. McCarthy told Fox News host Jesse Watters how Democratic House members told him they didn't just “don't like him.” Harris,” but allegedly “didn’t work with them” during her time as California’s Democratic senator.

“You know when I was sitting with Democratic members in California, they didn't like me and they said I don't work with them, right? Because she's their senator,” McCarthy continued. “I said well, 'Do you work with your senator?' [They said,] “She doesn't work with me.” Feinstein would return in due course. But, no, she didn't work with them either.”

“The White House never seemed interested in what she had to say or what position she had to take. Even when she came to the Fourth of July, she was only invited to Truman's balcony this year, when she [President Joe Biden] he was about to back down,” McCarthy said.

McCarthy went on to highlight why he thinks Harris is “so popular” as of now, referencing the 1988 presidential election between former President Georgia W. Bush and Democratic presidential candidate Mike Dukakis.

“The only reason she's popular now is because Biden was so unpopular. They're so thankful she's gone. Wait until they have a few moments with her. This is a lot like 1988,” McCarthy continued.

“Dukakis was sitting in the middle of July 17 points up, right? Then we found out he was weak on offense, he was letting Willie Horton out. Wait until you see it,” McCarthy said. “He's Soros' prosecutor, it's worse. Then we found out, we saw Dukakis and that helmet, not presidential. Think about the decisions you'll make in the process.”

Following Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 race and Harris' endorsement as the party's nominee, the vice president saw a wave of online support from fellow legislators, donors and other political figures.

Despite this despite the party's enthusiasm, a Reuters/Ipsos done July 26-28 shows that of 1,025 Americans polled, 48 percent disapprove of how Harris has handled his position in the White House, with 39 percent approving and 13 percent disapproving, the data show.
