Florence, Kentucky, early Saturday, when a shooting left at least four people dead, including the suspect, according to reports from the Florence Police Department.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. at a residence on Ridgecrest Drive, prompting a quick law enforcement response after reports of an active shooter in the area.

Upon arriving at the scene, the authorities discovered the lifeless bodies of four people and several others who had injuries from the violent encounter.

The suspect, allegedly responsible for the fatal shooting, tried to flee the scene in a vehicle, initiating a frantic police chase. However, the pursuit came to an abrupt halt when the suspect crashed his vehicle into a ditch on Dale Heimbrock Way near Hicks Pike.

Law enforcement later found the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital.

The Florence Police Department has assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to safety.
