The timing of a new contract for Kellyanne Conway added another layer to her denials of any involvement in spreading negative stories about former President Donald Trump's running mate.
“…calls come in, not out.”
Ever since Ohio Sen. JD Vance officially joined the president's campaign, the freshman lawmaker has had to contend with a corporate media narrative of being “weird” and defending his position that “women childless cats” have been running America into the ground.
Speaking to The Bulwark, the political consultant and Trump 2016 campaign manager denied any involvement in the senator's damaging push while she he insisted“When it comes to concerned people questioning the vetting or selection of JD Vance, the calls are coming in, not going out.”
“I'm not calling them and saying this is bad. People are asking me. They're not just asking me. They're asking a lot of people,” he added, as some had expressed concern about Vance's election . He admitted that his favor had been behind Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. “I'm not anti-Vance. I was pro-Rubio.”
On the other hand, the outlet indicated that a confidant of the president's son, Donald Trump Jr., argued that the attacks were “100 percent Kellyanne's.”
“He's angry about it. He knows it's her,” the source added, while a family member was on the record suggesting that “the family in general thinks very well” of Conway.
The Bulwark detailed: “Conway denied the allegations, calling the dozen or so anonymous accusers 'gossip girls' and 'ankle-biters' jealous of both her success and her close relationship with the former president, who consulted her frequently and was giving him a speaking role at the Republican National Convention earlier this month.”
The allegations against Conway come as it was reported that the Fox News contributor recorded as a foreign agent of Ukraine on Friday after landing a $50,000-a-month contract with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
As a consultant, Conway was expected, in part, to “engage US lawmakers and pundits and opinion-makers to explain Ukraine's importance to the rules-based order and the protection of democratic principles.”
Meanwhile, Vance has pushed for a negotiated settlement between Ukraine and Russia to resolve the conflict rather than continue sending them hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars while leaving American national sovereignty on the US-Mexico border unaddressed.
Likewise, Trump himself has insisted that he could resolve the war “in a day” and remarked after the Republican National Convention that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and assured as part of a second administration that “he will bring peace”. the world and put an end to the war that has cost so many lives and devastated countless innocent families. The two sides will be able to come together and negotiate an agreement that ends the violence and paves the way to prosperity.”
Conway remained confident the president would not be swayed by arguments to switch his running mate to someone else because “he's loyal. He was loyal to me. He's a loyal guy. He sticks with things. And he knows firsthand that anyone would have been attacked and anyone elected would have been attacked, because they have always been attacked.”
On the same day Conway registered as a foreign agent, she shared a picture of herself visiting Trump and receiving a blue MAGA hat with the caption: “All the visit today with @realDonaldTrump in #NJ. Bonus: the blue hat from #MAGA news 45-47 from the man behind the movement. #winners.”
