Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann took aim at the Associated Press, unleashing a fiery tirade on Twitter in response to its post about former President Trump's recent visit with Republican lawmakers. “Fire everyone,” Olbermann tweeted in response to the AP's portrayal of Trump's return as “triumphant,” citing its use of the headline: “Cheers, cake and a punch from the GOP as Trump returns to the Capitol for the first time since January 6 riots.
Expressing his surprise that the Associated Press continues to operate, Olbermann denounced his article as a “blatant, biased, compromised, whoring, over-the-top pile of Trump propaganda.” He provocatively compared it to something that would have embarrassed Hitler's propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels.
I am surprised to find that the Associate @AP The press is still at work today after it published this insurmountable, biased, compromised, whoring, insurmountable pile of propaganda yesterday.
Goebbels would have been embarrassed.

The AP article also documented that Trump was “embraced by energetic House and Senate Republicans who are invigorated by his bid to recapture the White House.” However, he also mentioned the symbolism of Trump's return amid concerns about the peaceful transfer of power due to events following the 2020 election.

Olbermann did not specify the specific aspects of the AP report that he considered biased in favor of Trump, while the AP did not offer immediate comment in response to his criticism.
In response to Olbermann's tweet, the Trump campaign pushed back at Biden supporters, characterizing them as intolerant of a free press and in favor of retribution against dissenting voices. A spokesman for the Trump campaign communicated to Fox News“Joe Biden and his supporters are now showing that they are against the press and in favor of punishing anyone who does not repeat their propaganda. They are a threat to democracy.”
During his visit, Trump engaged in discussions with Republican lawmakers on a range of policy priorities, including Social Security and Medicare, border security, crime and tax rates. Trump declared “great unity” among GOP members and emphasized the shared commitment to “Make America Great Again.”
Olbermann, known for his vocal opposition to Trump and his infamous exits from MSNBC and ESPN, has consistently criticized the former president. Notably, she even moved out of her New York City apartment building due to Trump owning it. In the past, Olbermann drew a lot of scrutiny when the cover of his anti-Trump book featured an image of himself draped in the American flag, visibly touching the ground, violating the American flag code.
In 2020, Olbermann left ESPN to voice his opposition to Trump on YouTube and social media, further cementing his role as a prominent and outspoken critic of the former president.
