The controversial tattoo artist and published fashion designer a video on Instagram on Tuesday that showed her and her family participating in a local church service in Indiana.
Von D could be seen singing his heart out, sitting on a bench, and at the end of the short clip, being baptized.
“Katherine von Drachenberg, in your profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in obedience to his divine commandment, I baptize you, my sister, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen,” said a priest . before lowering Von D into a pool of water.
Von D has shared photos of his family attending church on a few occasions since moving to Indiana in late 2021. He also said he was throwing away his occult-related belongings in July 2022.
“I don’t know if any of you are going through changes in your lives right now, but in the last few years I’ve come to some pretty significant realizations, many of them revolving around the fact that I have a lot of things wrong with me in my past.” wrote Von D an Instagram post at the time. “Today, I went through my entire library and threw out books that don’t align with who I am and who I want to be.”
He continued: “I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself, what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I don’t want to invite any of those things into life. of our family, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, gathering dust on my shelves.”
The former makeup mogul also said she didn’t want her post to come across as critical of people who enjoy these topics despite her feelings about them.
“But right now, it’s never been clearer to me that there’s a spiritual battle going on, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light,” she added.
Von D’s spiritual evolution and baptism are examples of the many major life changes he has made in recent years.
He bought a house in Indiana before the end of 2020, citing his eventual move as an escape from California’s high taxes, “terrible policies” and “tyrannical government.” He also closed his famous High Voltage Tattoo studio – who appeared on his TLC series “LA Ink” – as part of his move.
One’s mother has it too covered many of his signature tattoos in solid black ink, saying on Instagram that it had been “extremely refreshing” to see “all the trash and drunken tattoos” she’d had before getting sober “covered in glitz and simplicity.”
