
white house pRes Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre mistakenly called President Joe Biden “President Obama” during a press conference Thursday.
Jean-Pierre was discussing Biden’s nomination of Ajay Banga as president of the World Bank earlier Thursday when he mistakenly announced that Obama had made the nomination before quickly correcting himself.

“Okay, so today, as you all saw just an hour or so ago, President Obama announced that … excuse me, President Biden. Woah! That’s news,” he said. “I know. I know. We’re going backwards, not forwards. We’ve got to go forward.”

Jean-Pierre previously worked in the Obama administration in the White House Office of Political Affairs, and also served on the 2008 and 2012 Obama presidential campaigns.
She has been working in the Biden administration since January 2021, first as deputy press secretary and since May 2022 as press secretary. Biden served as vice president during the Obama administration before being elected commander in chief in 2020.
