Kamala's leading vice-presidential candidate withdraws from consideration [VIDEO]

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has officially dropped out of the running to be Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate for the upcoming election.

Cooper made the announcement in a statement to X after The New York Times reported his decision Monday evening.

It was initially unclear what led to this choice, but Cooper explained in his statement that “it just wasn't the right time for North Carolina and for me.”

For the past few days, Cooper had been considered a leading candidate among potential classmates for Harris.

After Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Harris' team sent verification materials to Cooper and several others, including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona.
