Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a Democratic vice presidential candidate, has recently faced claims of stolen value regarding his military service.

A 2018 video of Walz talking about handling weapons “in war” resurfaced, prompting scrutiny from the Republican side, particularly from vice presidential candidate JD Vance.

A spokesman for the Harris campaign clarified Walz's statement, saying he “misspoken” and expressing gratitude for the military personnel's service.

They emphasized Walz's position on gun control, stressing that only trained military personnel should have access to certain weapons.

Vance and the Trump campaign quickly challenged Walz's military record, and Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung accused Walz of lying and trying to spin his own misrepresentations through spokespeople.

Walz, who served 24 years in the National Guard but was never deployed to a war zone, left the Army before his unit's deployment to Iraq.

Vance, a Navy veteran, accused Walz of “stolen value” and questioned the authenticity of his military service.

That exchange has sparked a heated dialogue between the two camps, with Vance publicly expressing skepticism about Walz's military claims and calling for transparency about his service.
