Kamala Roasted With Photo ID For Her Rally, Calling Voter ID Laws Racist [VIDEOS]

Kamala Harris has sparked controversy and tease to require a government-issued ID to attend a recent campaign rally, despite his outspoken opposition to voter ID laws.

Harris' campaign event in Arizona on Friday, which also featured Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, was hit by criticism after the campaign required attendees to show government-issued photo identification to enter.

according to MOREa campaign email directed confirmed RSVPs to show matching ID at the Desert Diamond Arena, 15 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix. The event was first announced on July 30, with specific details released the day before.

Social media users were quick to highlight the perceived hypocrisy. Actor Kevin Sorbo tweeted to his 2 million followers: “Voter ID is racist, but you can't attend a Kamala rally without ID.”

Nick Sortor, who has over 448,000 followers, asked: “So let me get this straight: Requiring ID to vote is racist… But requiring ID to attend a Kamala Harris 'rally' is NOT racist? “

Gunther Eagleman also commented: “Kamala Harris requires photo ID to enter a private campaign event. Kamala Harris does not want to require photo ID to vote. Kamala Harris does not want to require photo ID identity before crossing our border Strange.”

In 2021, Harris discussed voter ID laws during an interview with Soledad O'Brien on BET, expressing concern about the practical implications for people in rural areas. “I don't think we should underestimate what this could mean,” he said. “Because in some people's minds, that means, well, you're going to have to Xerox or photocopy your ID to send in to prove who you are.”

Earlier in his career, Harris had also criticized voter ID laws. In an op-ed for The Washington Post in August 2020, he accused Republicans of trying to “suppress and attack the voting rights of people of color” through measures such as voter ID laws and the gerrymandering.
