Vice President Kamala Harris wasted no time firing back at former President Donald Trump after her interview with tech billionaire Elon Musk on X Spaces, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. Harris' campaign criticized Trump for pandering to “obsessed rich guys” like Musk and accused him of turning his back on the middle class, according to reports. Fox News.
Trump's Monday night appearance at X Spaces, despite a rough start with technical issues, drew millions of listeners. Musk, ever the gentleman, later extended an invitation to Harris for his own session at X Spaces, though it's doubtful he'll take it.

During the interview, Musk handed Trump the microphone to discuss a number of issues. Trump covered his usual hits: immigration, inflation and his desire to dismantle the Department of Education in favor of state control. He even went so far as to suggest that some states, like California, could fight back without federal oversight, a clear blow to deep blue states.
“I want to shut down the Department of Education, move education to the states… Of the 50 [states]I'd bet 35 would do just fine. And 15 of them, or, you know, 20 of them, will be as good as Norway. You know, Norway is considered cool,” Trump declared, never missing an opportunity to poke at the left.
Harris' team, led by spokesman Joseph Costello, responded strongly, mocking the technical problems and calling Trump's agenda “extremism” on full display. “Donald Trump's entire campaign is in the service of people like Elon Musk and himself — obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who can't do a live stream in 2024,” Costello said.
The exchange comes as Trump continues to distance himself from the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, a plan loaded with conservative wish-list items such as eliminating the Department of Education, criminalizing pornography and rejecting abortion as health care. Trump has rejected the initiative, calling some of it “ridiculous” and distancing himself from what critics call an authoritarian agenda.
Trump's interview on Monday marked his return to X after nearly a year of silence on the platform. His last featured post was his photo after Musk reinstated his account after the January 6, 2021, suspension of the Capitol riots.
Towards the end of the interview, Trump didn't mince words about the current administration. “This country is going down, and these people are bad people that we're up against. And they're liars. They make statements. They do such bad things. They say they're going to make a strong border. They say they've been great at the border and they've been the worst in history”.
He also made a scathing criticism of Harris, calling her a “radical left-wing lunatic” who is more liberal than Bernie Sanders. “If she's going to be our president, very quickly you won't have a country anymore,” he warned.
The conversation took a darker turn when Trump addressed President Biden's recent decision to suspend his re-election campaign. He described it as a Democratic “coup” that forced Biden out, despite his reluctance to resign. “They took him out behind the shed and basically shot him,” Musk said, with Trump agreeing that Biden has been “the worst president ever.”
