Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris applauded anti-Israel protesters at her campaign rally in Detroit on Wednesday, telling them, “I'm talking.”
“Kamala! Kamala! You can't hide! We won't vote for genocide!” chanted the protesters.
Harris replied, “You know what?” If you want Donald Trump to win, say this. Otherwise, I speak.”
Harris is running against Republican presidential candidate Trump for the White House amid a schism in the Democratic Party between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian factions, sparked by the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
Harris later told the rally that while every voice matters and she believes in democracy, and that now is the time to speak up, according to The New York Post.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators have turned up at numerous Democratic events and protested as many of them have called for a ceasefire in the war and claimed that the Jewish state is committing genocide in Gaza.
The war was sparked by the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel in which 1,200 people died.
