-

A gaffe made by the vice president Kamala Harris in which he accidentally described a plan to “reduce the population” that has been touted by conservative figures as proof of a conspiracy theory.

Friday, Harris gave a speechhas Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he described Democratsplans to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and reach net zero emissions by 2050

“When we invest in clean energy and electric vehicles and reduce the population, more of our children can breathe clean air and drink clean water,” Harris said.

There is no indication that Harris was laying out a plan reduce world population during his speech to combat the effects of climate change or other policy goals and instead just said bad things.

In the official transcript of the White House speech, the word “population” is crossed out and replaced with the word “pollution” that Harris was supposed to say. The White House has been contacted for further comment,

The error was seized upon by several figures on the right, who suggested that Harris was openly calling for a reduction in world population.

“Are you the population she wants to reduce?” congressman Thomas Massiea Republican from Kentucky, tweeted while sharing a clip of Harris’ comments.

Harris the pass rate has been consistently lower that President Joe Bidenthroughout his term. Political scientists suggest that Harris is likely to fall an even closer scrutiny as the running mate of the oldest person ever to seek a second presidential term in 2024.

Rep. of Georgia Marjorie Taylor Greene he wrote: “‘Reduce population’ @VP, what do you mean by reduce population? Abortion? Assisted suicide? Or what means do you propose to reduce population to help public health?”

Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt added: “Vice President Kamala Harris says loudly that the quiet part about her and other climate alarmists are very anti-human ideology and their desire to ‘reduce the population'”.

Far-right influencer Rogan O’Handley added under its DC_Draino Twitter note: “Kamala just said that ‘reducing the population’ is a goal of the climate change movement. They are not hiding it anymore. YOU are the carbon they want to remove the real evil.”

Speaking for himself Fox News Friday’s show, Jesse Watters said, “What he just said, you’re not supposed to say if you’re a liberal. They’ve been saying it for a long time, they need to reduce the population to heal the planet.”

In response, conservative commentator Tomi Lahren said, “This is another one of those Republican conspiracy theories that you’ve been saying for so long, that the Democrats want to reduce the population, and then he said it outright.”

This is not the first time that Harris made a gaffe during his public speaking, or gave rambling salads.

A clip of Harris seemingly struggling to describe what artificial intelligence is recently went viral on social media.

“I think the first part of this problem that should be articulated is that artificial intelligence is a great thing, first of all, it’s two letters, it means artificial intelligence, but ultimately the that’s what machine learning is all about,” Harris said during a panel discussion earlier this week.

“And so the machine is taught and part of the problem here is what information goes into the machine that will then determine, and we can predict then if we think about what information goes in, what will happen next in terms of decisions and opinions that can be made through this process”.

In May 2022, Harris made confusing comments while giving a speech about expanding Internet access to parts of rural America alongside Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.

“The governor and I and everybody were taking a tour of the library here and we were talking about the importance of the passage of time. Right? The importance of the passage of time,” Harris said.

“So when you think about it, the timing is very important in terms of what we need to do to put those wires in, what we need to do to create those jobs.”
