Vice President Kamala Harris is desperate to put an international astronaut on the moon to help propel the global fight against climate change.
“Harris announced on Wednesday that an international astronaut will land on the surface of the Moon as part of NASA's Artemis program,” he said. CNN.
“While the United States has previously committed to flying international astronauts around the Moon on future Artemis missions, today's announcement takes that commitment a step further by allowing one of them to walk actually across the surface of the Moon, thus joining an elite club that so Far has only 12 members,” CNN reported Wednesday.
While that may sound like standard fare, it's what Harris said when he announced the operation from the White House briefing room that has people in trouble.
Listen to relevant remarks below:
“Today I will talk about three priorities for space: address the climate crisisestablishing new international rules and norms and advancing human space exploration,” he began.
“On the subject of the climate crisis, earlier this month I was with many of you where I represented the United States at COP28. There, I declared Nations must work together with greater ambition and urgency to protect our world from climate disasters and to advance climate action“, it continued.
Passing into space, he then added, “Here, I will add that, for this, we also need to work together in space.”
Finally, specifically addressing the Artemis program, he announced: “Today, in recognition of the essential role played by our allies and partners in the Artemis program, I am therefore proud to announce that, together with the American astronauts , we intend to land an international astronaut on the surface of the moon by the end of the decade.”
So he seems to be pursuing space globalism…
The so-called “experts” say this is a good thing.
“Adding the international astronaut could improve how the United States and its partners work together in space and improve how they 'deconflict or resolve unwanted interference'.” Politician he reported, citing Benjamin Silverstein, an independent space analyst.
Audience members, on the other hand, seem to take a much more cynical view of things.
Look at:
They seem to care more about non-Americans than their own. We better charge them for the ride.

Because god forbid he was an American. These people hate the country they represent. There is no victory with the communists running the country

I thought the US already put an astronaut on the moon decades ago. Why would we help the international community to do this? Someone take the CBD oil please.

Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke, Jr. also commented on the matter, tweeting: “Is this buffoon serious? His definition of 'international' is [a] dog whistle for the first black lesbian or white transgender male to plant a rainbow flag on the moon. These people have lost their minds.”
He is not the only one who has interpreted his statements about an “international astronaut” as a call for more “diversity” and “inclusion” in space.
Yes, because outdoor space should be inclusive.

I'm sure Moonites will be impressed by the diversity of our astronauts.

They're going to send a biodiverse, all-female crew to the moon, but they get lost after stopping at Starbucks for a pumpkin spice latte.

All this comes as President Joe Biden faces increasing heat to skip this year's 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28).
In fact, this week the college outreach arm of the Democratic National Committee wrote a letter to the president complaining about his “indifference” to climate change.
“With every moment of indifference to the issue of climate change, we sink progressively deeper into a global environmental crisis,” the group wrote, according to the hill.
“Their impacts, ranging from sea level rise, unprecedented climate change, increased frequency of natural disasters and worsening air and water quality, have endangered the planet that the young are destined to inherit,” they added.
Young college-aged Americans are also upset with the president for approving the Willow project in Alaska and accelerating gas exports to Europe.
“America cannot preach temperance from a barstool, and right now, America is drunk on oil and gas production and exports,” Democratic Sen. Ed Markey wrote in a letter last week past
I fought hard at COP28 for an agreement to phase out fossil fuels. But you can't preach temperance from a stool and right now, the American economy is drunk on fossil fuels. It's time to close the oil-soaked tab and invest in a clean energy future. https://t.co/5N22hrtwlB
