Four years ago, Hollywood and Silicon Valley were united in their mission to stop the re-election of then-President Donald Trump at all costs. But now, as more “tech bros” have publicly declared their support for Trump, the already uneasy relationship between California's two largest industries, both political fundraising bonanzas, has turned sour and unpleasant.
From Elon Musk to David Sacks to the winklevoss twins, Fellow techies are jumping on the Trump bandwagon in response to the many disastrous policies of the Biden-Harris administration, particularly its penchant for over-regulation and plans to introduce a tax on “unrealized capital gains”, which would hammer the innovation rich and juicy.
Even Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, who meddled in the 2020 election on behalf of Joe Biden, recently called Trump “bad” to survive the recent assassination attempt.
Their political heresy has only further alienated them from Hollywood elites, who already resent them deeply for changing the entertainment industry with streaming media.
“Fuck these Trump-loving techies,” an unnamed Hollywood executive he said The Hollywood Reporter.
Another unnamed source told the network: “Look, it's no secret that Hollywood has never been very fond of these guys. [tech bros].”
“Nobody likes the idea of these people in bed with the Trump administration. There's a lot of money here in Hollywood, as well as a lot of disdain for these tech bros, and I think you're going to see people putting on a lot of dough just to teach these guys they can't buy elections.”
The acrimony comes as more Silicon Valley billionaires pour money into Trump's bid to take back the White House. Tech venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz have reportedly pledged to donate to America PAC, the pro-Trump super PAC that was reportedly recently created by people close to Elon Musk.
In a recent blog publicationAndreessen and Horowitz criticized the Biden-Harris administration.
“The U.S. government is now much more hostile to new startups than it used to be,” they wrote, saying regulatory agencies use “brute-force investigations, prosecutions, intimidation and threats to stymie new industries.”
They also criticized the Biden-Harris plan to introduce an unrealized capital gains tax, which they said would “absolutely kill” the emerging industry.
Like Breitbart News reportedTyler Winklevoss recently said that he and his brother Cameron now support Trump, noting that the current Biden-Harris administration has been openly hostile to cryptocurrency.
“Over the past few years, the Biden administration has openly declared war on crypto. It has armed various government agencies to intimidate, harass and sue the good actors in our industry in an effort to destroy it,” he wrote.
Tech colleagues are also said to approve of Trump's choice of Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) as his running mate. Vance once worked as a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley before entering the political arena.
Meanwhile, in Hollywood, elite donors have now duly transferred their allegiance to Kamala Harris after she left not long ago in a key step for Biden's re-election.
Hollywood has gone ga-ga for Harris in the two days since Biden left his campaign. Among the industry fundraising groups that have pledged their support are: George Clooney and Rob Reiner, as well as many other celebrities and celebrity influencers such as Robert De Niro, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand and Mark Ruffalo.
