Kamala Harris has posted a statement in support of Joe Biden's unconstitutional Supreme Court reforms.
“Throughout our nation's history, trust in the United States Supreme Court has been central to achieving equal justice under the law. President Biden and I strongly believe that the American people must have confidence in the Supreme Court However, there is a clear crisis of confidence facing the Supreme Court today, as its fairness has been questioned after numerous ethical scandals and decision after decision overturning a longstanding precedent.
That's why President Biden and I are calling on Congress to pass important reforms, from imposing term limits on judges' active service to requiring judges to meet the same binding ethics standards as any other federal judge. And finally, in our democracy, no one should be above the law. Therefore, we must also ensure that no former president has immunity for crimes committed in the White House.
These popular reforms will help restore confidence in the Court, strengthen our democracy and ensure that no one is above the law.”

Expressing his extensive experience with the Supreme Court, Biden highlighted his involvement with numerous nominations while serving as a United States Senator and as Vice President. “What is happening now is not normal and undermines public confidence in the court's decisions, including those that affect personal liberties. We are now in a breach,” he stressed in the opinion piece, published in Washington Post.
From the White House briefing room data sheet:
Biden's proposed reforms would eliminate any immunity previously enjoyed by former presidents for any crimes committed during their tenure.
On the Supreme Court, Biden is pushing for an 18-year term for justices, which would allow new justices to be appointed once every two years.
The president is also pushing for a new code of conduct for the Supreme Court, which would require judges to disclose gifts, refrain from public political activities and recuse themselves from cases involving financial or other conflicts of interest that involve themselves or their spouses.
A White House official expressed that President Biden and Vice President Harris are eager to work with Congress and strengthen the guarantees of democracy by restoring faith in the Supreme Court, preventing abuse of presidential power, and empowering the American people.
This op-ed marks President Biden's most significant policy move since his recent announcement earlier this month that he is withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race.
