Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz appeared together in Philadelphia, advocating for more gun control measures, including a controversial ban on what the Democratic Party labels “assault weapons.”

Addressing the crowd, Harris, yes won the Democratic nomination for president (without receiving a single vote from actual voters!), declared, “I am officially the (Democratic) nominee for President of the United States.” The statement was met with applause and support from the congregants.
In his speech, Harris also highlighted Walz's stance on gun control. Despite being a gun owner, Walz supports more restrictive laws. “We need reasonable gun safety laws in America,” Harris said, quoting Walz.

He set out the joint agenda that they plan to follow if they win the next elections in November. His approach will include implementing universal background checks, red flag laws and an ambitious “assault weapons” ban.
Walz, standing next to Harris, expressed his approval with applause as Harris laid out his policy plans.
His tenure as governor has already seen him take steps to tighten gun laws in Minnesota, a point Harris emphasized to the crowd.
The joint appearance underscores a key platform of the Harris-Walz campaign, which is to tighten gun regulations in an attempt to address what they call “gun violence.”
