Bryant lived the life of a typical reporter, stationed in Greenwich Village, writing for numerous publications and covering a wide variety of topics. One of his most notable pieces was an exclusive interview with Lucchese’s former boss at Supermax prison, conducted in 1999. Bryant also featured Sonny Barger, the infamous head of the Hells Angels, on several occasions.
His unique penchant for exploring the darker side of society led a Rolling Stone editor to label him a specialist in “dark stories.” Fascinated by Bryant’s intriguing work, the publisher encouraged him to delve into the world of Satanists, a task Bryant initially thought would be simple.
While doing research for this project, he stumbled upon the chilling story of the “Finders,” a Washington DC-based cult involved in horrific activities involving children. The Finders first gained attention when two men associated with the cult were discovered in a Tallahassee park with six neglected children. Concerned citizens alerted the Tallahassee Police Department, who quickly responded. Subsequent examination of the children by a medical professional revealed signs of sexual abuse in two of them.
The DC police had been monitoring the Finders due to a suspected involvement in murder and, ominously, “blood rituals”. American customs got involved because of the presence of cult-related child pornography. A raid on the Finders’ warehouse led to the discovery of a large amount of incriminating material, including evidence of child exploitation.
In a shocking turn of events, despite strong evidence and multiple child abuse charges against the suspects, the CIA intervened. As revealed by Bryant, the US Customs report mentioned that no further action would be taken against the Finders as it had become an “internal CIA matter”. Amazingly, the suspects walked free and, in a mind-boggling decision, the children were returned to the cult.
Nick Bryant’s disturbing revelation serves as a stark reminder of the sinister aspects of our society. It also highlights the importance of press freedom and the need for investigative journalists like Bryant to continue unearthing uncomfortable truths.
