Jonathan Turley says Hunter's new indictment “shatters years of denials” about Biden's business dealings

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said Thursday that Hunter Biden's indictment “destroys” the Bidens' denials about their business dealings.

Special Counsel David Weiss make sure a nine-count indictment against Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, for failing to pay more than $1 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019 on Thursday in California. “The fact is, this indictment shatters years of denials by the Bidens and, frankly, an enabling media,” Fox News anchor Sean Hannity's Turley said.

“The fact of the matter is, this is a circle that is closing around the president,” Turley told Hannity. “It is clear that the president has lied. He obviously lied during the first campaign when he said he had no knowledge of these deals. Hunter himself contradicted it. Hunter's partner said it was complete nonsense in recent statements after his testimony. He also said that his son was not making money in China. This is obviously not true.”

I WILL SEE:

Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges and a weapons offense during a July 26 hearing following a plea deal announced on It collapsed on June 20 after U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned the initial plea deal.

“There is a more serious problem here, and that is what the president knew was not business, but corruption,” Turley added. “This is influence peddling. The United States has pushed for international agreements to stop influence peddling in other countries, which the United States believes is a major source of destructive corruption. If the president knew that his family was getting involved in this type of corruption, of course, it's serious.”

Turley said the impeachment could make things more difficult for President Biden, even as it makes things easier for Hunter Biden. Republican representatives James Comer of Kentucky and Jim Jordan of Ohio, who respectively chair the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees, threatened initiate contempt of Congress proceedings if Hunter Biden did not appear for his deposition scheduled for December 13.

“We're looking at two events next week. One is when Hunter Biden is supposed to show up, which can now effectively collapse,” Turley told Hannity. “Hunter can use this to invoke the fifth, to refuse to answer questions. But the second event is the expected vote on the impeachment inquiry. This accusation might make it easier for Hunter not to speak, but it might make it more difficult than President Biden avoids this investigation.”
