Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum grilled President Biden's chief of staff, John Kirby, over her boss' lack of action on the border crisis, a conversation that turned testy at times.
The NSC's strategic communications coordinator appeared on Wednesday's edition of “The Story” where he defended Biden's disastrous immigration policies by blaming them on Congress, a familiar refrain from an administration that has shirked its responsibility by illegal alien invasion.

Noting that Biden could use the executive orders he so often invokes to address the border crisis, MacCallum told White House spox that “it doesn't seem like there's a lot of fire in his belly” to curb the ongoing flood of illegals in the country, saying the president appears to be “agreeing to the contrary.”
Kirby responded with a song and dance that “there is no lack of urgency here about the importance of working on the border” and that “executive action can only go so far,” excusing Biden's refusal to act decisively .
MacCallum wasn't having it.
“You say there is no lack of urgency, he has been president for three years,” she replied. “This is not just the same immigration problem we've had for a decade as he said the other day. These are record numbers all the time and people in Iowa and New Hampshire are the ones voicing concerns about it.”
“This is not Arizona and Texas. This is Iowa and New Hampshire, so I don't think people feel there's an urgency to address this,” he added. “I talked to a lot of voters over the last few weeks who said they think the opposite has happened and they're trying to figure out why the president wouldn't do what he can to stop it.”
“Well, that's why I'm glad I'm here with you so I can try to explain it,” Kirby replied, shifting the blame from the White House to the Capitol.
“He's taken some executive action, but there's a limit to what executive action can do, and we really need the support of Congress. We really need additional legislative action here, new laws, and frankly, on the first day, he introduced a new immigration reform and proposed legislation that has not been acted upon. So we need to act in partnership with Congress and I will tell you that the discussions we are having in the Senate are progressing well,” he said, referring -se to the ongoing discussion about lame border control measures as a sweetener for tens of billions of dollars more for Ukraine.
“They're not, that's what we're hearing,” MacCallum disagreed. “They're really not moving well and you know, you say you've been worried about this for three years, but this is obviously failing. Because when there's a record number of people coming in, that means the policy is failing. Then , why not switch gears and try to make something work?”
Kirby responded, “I think it's also important to put this in context, Martha, you're seeing as you rightly said a record number of people and it's not just the United States that is facing this pressure, some, many countries in the hemisphere, including Mexico is facing a lot of pressure on its own southern border,” he said. “I mean there are more people on the move in this hemisphere right now than there have been since World War II…”
“John, do we have a border? Do we have a southern border?” MacCallum asked.
“We have a what?” Kirby replied, momentarily off track.
“Do we have a southern border?” MacCallum asked again, to which Kirby acknowledged, “Yes ma'am. Of course we do.”
“So how come people can flow through it every day? Hundreds of thousands of people? 300,000 people in December,” he replied.
“We're working really hard to try to fix this, Martha. That's why we need action from Congress. That's why the president asked for additional funding — an additional $6 billion to try to improve border security, I mean I think you and I obviously won't see policy solutions the same way, and I respect that,” Kirby said. .
“Well, I'm just looking for results,” she replied. “If you're worried about the number of people who believe, you don't get results. So at some point you have to say we've got to do something different.”
