On a recent episode of “This Is My Show,” Drew Berquist weighed in on a Joe Rogan clip about the widespread dysfunction of the American political system. Both pointed to the widespread lack of trust in political leaders and the tendency of voters to make emotional rather than informed decisions. Both commentators agreed that the system is fundamentally broken and does not adequately represent the interests of everyday Americans.
Drew Berquist opened the discussion by highlighting Joe Rogan's ideas about the cyclical nature of voter disillusionment with the two major political parties. “Let's talk about Joe Rogan. Let's talk about Joe Rogan, because he weighed in on how the Republicans and Democrats are doing with the cutoff vote every presidential cycle here. There's obviously more to his conversation. We're going to show you like a clip of about 45-50 seconds or so here, but let's listen to it and then we're going to break it down and talk about it a little bit.

Joe Rogan's criticism was direct and to the point. “And you know what, man, here's a problem. Here's the real problem. The Republicans aren't going to be the solution either, kids. The problem is that the people in a position of power, the Republicans, seem to be your solution . But it's just because the people in power right now, the Democrats, whenever the Democrats come out and the Republicans are there, everybody dies for a Democrat. I remember when Bush was president after his second term, everybody was like, “Good sir, can we get a sane democrat here before this country goes christian nationalist and goes crazy and starts all the wars, yeah, and get obama in, like, oh?” , things are going to be great. but it looks kind of the same , you know, and the whistleblower protection that he promised, yeah, probably one of the worst whistleblowers ever, drone strikes kind of shit. Yeah, it was crazy. It's the same structure with a different face”.
Berquist agreed with Rogan's assessment, stressing that neither party is the panacea for America's political problems. “He's right, and he's also right about a statement he made early on that Republicans aren't going to save the day, not calling you a conservative, a listener or a bystander, saying the Republican Party, the GOP, the Republican establishment, if you will. . And there's a lot more truth to what he's saying. And a lot of people will say, 'Yeah, but Trump's going to get in, and I hope he's going to get in and fix everything.'
Berquist emphasized systemic problems that transcend individual leaders, including Trump. “But look, we say it all the time, and it's not a disrespect to Trump or anybody. Obviously, he's the person in the conversation right now. He's a person. He's just one person and the system is so broken. The real problem here is we're talking about the voters. We as a country have a system full of people who hate everyday Americans you don't care what you're experiencing. And then they make everyone else lie. And then you have that effect Seesaw that happens in terms of elections because people are emotional, stupid or both.”
The conversation between Berquist and Rogan highlighted the urgent need for a meaningful overhaul of the political system to better serve and represent the American people, rather than the entrenched interests of political elites.
