Alwyn acknowledged the public's interest in his personal life, particularly the end of his six-and-a-half-year relationship with Swift, which he described as a difficult experience to navigate. He expressed his hope for empathy and understanding of the difficulties that accompany this breakup, especially when it becomes public knowledge within a week, inviting outside opinions.
Swift and Alwyn, who were first romantically linked in 2016, split in April 2023. Swift has since moved on and is currently in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. which started in September. Many fans believe that Swift's album “The Tortured Poets Department,” released in April, contains songs that refer to her relationship with Alwyn.
Alwyn, known for his role in “Kinds of Kindness,” would not confirm whether he has listened to Swift's latest album. However, he commented on the inevitable gap between public knowledge and personal truths, stating that he has accepted this reality.
Although the former couple kept their relationship relatively private, Swift has been known to subtly reference Alwyn in her music. Most notably, they collaborated on several songs from Swift's 2020 Grammy-winning album “Folklore.”
