Jill Biden shields Joe from answering questions about White House classified documents

FFirst Lady Jill Biden came to her husband’s defense Thursday when he was questioned about the classified documents controversy that has dogged his presidency.

President Joe Biden was walking around the White House during the Lunar New Year holiday when he was asked if he would let the FBI search one of his homes. The president appeared uneasy, but then the first lady stepped in and greeted reporters before catching up with him on her way to the celebration.

Late last week, the FBI searched the president’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, and reportedly discovered additional classified documents. His legal team previously conducted its own sweep of his Wilmington and Rehoboth homes, but found no classified material in Rehoboth. More than two dozen sensitive documents have reportedly been recovered from his days as vice president.

The president has insisted that he has cooperated fully with investigators. Special Counsel Robert Hur is overseeing an investigation into the matter. President Joe Biden declined to answer pressing questions about the growing controversy during the holiday Thursday.

During the Lunar New Year celebration, the president reflected on the wave of violence the Asian American community has faced in recent months while standing in the East Room of the White House.

“As I have said many times before, hate can have no refuge or safe harbor in America. No person deserves to be treated with hate, in a hateful way. All deserve to be treated with dignity and respect,” Biden proclaimed. during his statements at the party.

His comments came in the shadow of a shooting in Monterey Park, California, a predominantly Asian American city, over the weekend that left 11 dead. At the moment, there are no indications that the attack was racially motivated.

Near the conclusion of the dragon dance performance to celebrate the Lunar New Year, the first lady also teased her husband, saying the dance could ruin the night before closing the festivities.

“Come on Joe! No, you’re not going to dance,” he quipped after the president hinted that he might dance. “Trust me, you don’t want to ruin the evening.”
