Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Thursday that vice presidential nominee JD Vance wants to appeal to voters in the same way as presumptive Democratic vice presidential nominee and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski and Psaki argued that Vance is being inauthentic by pretending to be a supporter of former President Donald Trump and appealing to his base, citing past comments he made about the former president Psaki also said Vance wishes he could appeal to rural and centrist voters and be known in the same way as Walz.
“I think as soon as we saw it [Vance] Speaking at the convention, which completely fell through, it was clear that he wasn't as bright as maybe people in the Trump campaign thought he was,” Psaki told “Morning Joe.” “And [former Democratic Missouri Sen.] Claire McCaskill said this the other day I'm just going to steal and I'll give her credit for it, I think she really defines it, Tim Walz is who JD Vance wants to be, and that's probably why Tim Walz is driving Donald so crazy trump He's legit, a real regular midwestern guy you can talk to at a hardware store. That's not who JD Vance really is, even if that's how he comes across on paper.”

Brzezinski then cited Vance's past criticism of Trump, particularly during the 2016 election. Vance pondered whether Trump is “America's Hitler” in a private Facebook message to a friend in 2016 and referred himself as a “Never Trump guy” during an interview with Charlie Rose the same year. seconds to the politician
Vance said he regrets his past criticism of Trump and has since referred to him as a great president, Politico reported.
“He was an anti-Trumper of the highest order, and so I'm not sure how you figure out who he is at this late date. It's a struggle,” Brzezinski said.
“Yeah, look, I think in politics, as we all know, we've all been around it for a long time, the voters, the American public, can smell inauthenticity,” Psaki said . “This guy is inauthentic. It's not who he is, he doesn't like Trump, he hasn't presented himself for many decades before he had this kind of spin to try to connect with the MAGA world. People smell it, they recognize it, the voters they're not stupid, they're smart. And that's a route problem for JD Vance is that he's not at all who he shows up to be.”
Vice President Kamala Harris' seat has been released footage de Walz saying he wants to ban the guns he “carried into war” after the 2018 Parkland school shooting. CNN Correspondent Tom Foreman delivered a fact-checker Wednesday that notes there is “no evidence” to suggest Walz's claim is true.
“There is no evidence that at any time Governor Walz was in a position to be shot, and you could easily see some of his language to suggest that he was,” Foreman said Wednesday.
Vance, who served in the Marine Corps. as a combat correspondent, he said On Wednesday, Walz's comment indicates that he lied about his military service and called his departure from the National Guard “disgraceful.”
