White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the administration “categorically rejects” the inflammatory slogan promoted by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) that many believe calls for the eradication of Israel and its Jewish population.
The member of “The Squad” finally pushed his luck too far when he posted a video on X, formerly Twitter, last Friday, accusing Jean-Pierre’s boss of being complicit in genocide and promoting the phrase “from the river to the sea ” that was worth to him. a late rebuke in the form of formal bipartisan censure by House lawmakers.
During Wednesday’s daily news conference, President Joe Biden’s top spokeswoman was asked about the success of Tuesday’s vote to punish the Israel-hating congresswoman and made it clear that such rhetoric is unacceptable.
WH Press Sec. Jean-Pierre is asked if the censure of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) was appropriate:

Asked by a reporter whether Biden believed Tlaib’s comments warranted censure and whether it was appropriate, Jean-Pierre delivered what were the administration’s strongest comments about the lawmaker’s promotion of Israeli genocide. left
“I’m not going to talk about the actions that Congress takes,” he said. “We have been very clear about any other resolution that includes a censure. We’ve been very clear whether he’s a Republican or a Democrat, that’s what Congress has to act on and that’s their prerogative.”
“When it comes to the phrase that was used from the river to the sea. It’s division. It’s harmful to many, many find it harmful, and also many find it anti-Semitic,” he added. “And so, obviously, we categorically refuse to apply the term to this conflict.”
While Tlaib tried to do damage control after using the phrase in his video, stating that it is an “aspirational call for freedom, human rights and peaceful coexistence”, and not the rallying cry of Hamas and other anti-Semites for eradication. of the Jewish state and its citizens, few were convinced, least of whom were the 22 members of their own party who were so outraged that they broke with normal unity to punish the Jew-haters in their caucus.
Tlaib is unlikely to have learned anything, let alone been deterred from the censure, and joined fellow anti-Semitic Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) in issuing a statement against what they called a “rising tide of bigoted anti-Muslim, anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian hatred that permeates our politics,” referring to a resolution by Republican Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MO) to ban immigration from the Palestinian territories.

“Let’s be clear: using the full power of the state to attack and persecute a particular ethnic group or nationality is pure fascism and bigotry,” the trio said.
The White House’s strongest words yet about Rep. Tlaib stand out for coming despite Biden’s reluctance to alienate Muslim voters ahead of next year’s election.
