JD Vance takes on NBC muppet Kristen Welker for a special counsel to investigate Biden

Ohio Sen. JD Vance has hit out at NBC News anchor Kristen Welker over his support of former President Donald Trump's vow to go after his political enemies if re-elected.

The Republican lawmaker, who is on the list of names as possible running mates for the presumptive GOP nominee, has been a vocal supporter of Trump and has often denounced politically motivated lawsuits against him.

“Senator, if former President Trump won, if you were his vice president, would you support him appointing a special prosecutor to go after his political enemies, the Bidens?” Welker asked Vance on “Meet the Press” Sunday.

“Well, first of all, Kris, I find it interesting how the media and the Democrats have lost their minds with this particular quote,” Vance responded.

“Donald Trump is talking about appointing a special prosecutor to investigate Joe Biden for crimes. Joe Biden has done just that for the past few years and has done much more on top of that to engage in a law campaign against his opposition politics. I think what Donald Trump is simply saying is that we have to investigate the previous administration,” he added.

“Clearly there are many cases of wrongdoing. The House Oversight Committee has identified a number of corrupt business transactions that may or may not be criminal. Of course, you have to investigate to find out. To So, I think Donald Trump saying, look, we do the basic job of investigating misconduct is a perfectly reasonable thing for him to do,” Vance proposed.

“And frankly, the Biden administration has done much worse. So if you think what Donald Trump is proposing is a threat to democracy, isn't what Biden has already done a massive threat to our system of law and government ? he asked.

“Senator, to be very clear, however, Joe Biden did not appoint a special prosecutor, the attorney general did. Trump was indicted by grand juries. He was found guilty by a jury of his peers in New York. But we can back to the basic question here? Would you support this action? You seem to be saying, yes, you would,” Welker shot back.

“I absolutely support the investigation of past wrongdoing by our government. Absolutely,” Vance stressed.

“That's what you have to have in a law and order system. Kristen. But here I have to reject the premise. Joe Biden appointed the Attorney General, Merrick Garland, who of course responds that Joe Biden can be fired by Joe Biden. So the idea that the Biden administration has nothing to do with the appointment of the special counsel, I think completely betrays a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding of how our system of government really works,” the host educated.

“And of course, Kristen, we have to say this, Kristen, that the prosecution of Donald Trump in New York, which I think is now fundamentally called into question by this immunity case, was one of the main guys was a Official of the Department of Justice of the Biden administration who jumped to join a local prosecutor's office to prosecute him… You call into question the legitimacy of the prosecutor's office. This is a problem,” he said.

Welker stated that “This happens all the time” and told the senator to “get to the bottom of the question.”

The lawmaker questioned the premise that it's a common practice, saying, “I don't think this has ever happened in the history of American democracy, and I don't think we should legitimize it.”

“Now, if Donald Trump's attorney general had that, his number two or his number three was sent to a local prosecutor's office in Ohio or Wisconsin, and that person went after Donald Trump's political opposition. That's a different conversation. All he's suggesting is that we should be investigating any wrongdoing. That's all Donald Trump is saying. That's not just strengthening ours system of law and government,” Vance explained.
