JD Vance blasts CNN propagandist Dana Bash and her anti-Trump “whataboutism.”

-

An attempt to defend Minnesota Governor Tim Walz over the deployment bailout saw CNN's Dana Bash grilled by Ohio Senator JD Vance.

“Dana, I'm not interested in ad hominem.”

Like inflatable sky dancers at a used car lot, the corporate media has been scrambling to cover the “stolen value” allegations against Walz since he was named Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate. During a sit-down interview for “State of the Union,” Vance gave a preview of how he was willing to debate his alleged rival while deftly destroying Bash's hold at every turn.

Former President Donald Trump's running mate came up with the argument: “And on the question of when [Walz] left the National Guard, filed his election paperwork on February 10, 2005. This was a month before the National Guard even announced that they might be deployed to Iraq. And it ended up being two months — he retired two months before they actually had the paperwork.”

Ahead of the senator's response with the caption, “CNN's Dana Bash, frustrated after receiving questions about Stolen Valor and follow-ups about what's on her mind by @JDVance, desperately turns to abortion,” NewsBusters Jorge Bonilla shared a clip of the interview with the lawmaker reminding him. the anchor what his own network had reported.

“But on CNN last night, Dana, one of the people who was actually in charge of him, said they knew they were going to deploy to Iraq in the fall of 2004,” Vance recalled. “So I knew I was going to Iraq.”

“He decided to resign, withdraw, whatever word you want to use, because he wanted to run for Congress. He lied about it,” the senator continued. “So again, I'm not criticizing the service. I'm criticizing the dishonesty; dishonesty uttered in favor of and for the purpose of political gain.”

As reported during an interview with CNN's Laura Coates, former Command Sgt. Major Doug Julin lamented the “back door process” which Walz had taken to go over his head after assuring that he was “moving on with the battalion.”

His timeline suggested that Walz had committed to being sent to Iraq even after running for Congress, and that retirement prompted him to bail out his fellow guard to seek office in a public office in which he was repeatedly regarded as someone who served “in war”.

“Why did Kamala Harris choose a person who has lied about his military service?” Vance asked, struggling to control the subject. “I think that's a serious error of judgment. And I don't want to hear from a Kamala Harris campaign spokesperson. I want to hear Kamala Harris herself talk about what I just said.

An attempt to follow up on Bash saw his press: “I've seen many statements from veterans, including those you served with, saying it's distasteful to criticize someone who served for 24 years.”

That premise was easily dismissed by the congressman who said, “Dana, I'm not interested in ad hominem. I've heard from a lot of veterans groups that criticized Tim Walz.”

“I care what the truth is. The truth is that Tim Walz did not tell the truth. And what is important, Dana, is the trial of Kamala Harris,” he reiterated. “And I think when you ask: Why has Kamala Harris allowed the border to be wide open? Why has Kamala Harris supported policies that have promoted increased inflation? I think it goes to the heart of the his judgment. And I think that's what we should talk about.”

In a last-ditch effort, the anchor brought up the postponement of Trump's medical draft for bone spurs and asked, “Do you find that embarrassing, too?”

As she jumped in to question whether or not Vance believed Trump had bone spurs, the senator responded, “I believe Donald Trump didn't serve in the military, but he didn't lie about it.”

“I don't criticize anyone whether they served our country or not. I believe it is honorable to serve. But obviously many people have reasons not to serve. I criticized someone for embellishing their record; to lie saying: 'I went to war'”, he explained. “You think it's a problem that he said 'I went to war' but he didn't actually? That seems like a problem to me.”

Before moving on to the next topic, Bash alluded to an official statement claiming the governor “misspoke,” when he offered, “Well, they've corrected it.”
