James Carville says it's “inevitable” Biden will decide to drop out

Democratic strategist James Carville told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo on Monday that President Joe Biden will undoubtedly choose to withdraw from the presidential race “soon.”

“He's going to come to the conclusion that this is not a good idea. And he's going to resist it and listen to his family,” Carville said. “Everything is the same. 'We blame the staff, then we blame the media. Then there are the elites of the Democratic party. Do I look elite? What's so elite about growing up in rural south Louisiana and going to LSU? And this is happening all over the country and I understand that everything is predictable and he has to go through this. And it will get there sooner rather than later.”

Cuomo asked Carville where his “confidence” comes from in his thinking that Biden will drop out relatively soon.

“You know, Chris…I don't predict things. I'm just telling you, it's inevitable,” Carville replied. “He'll come to a conclusion. People will get the message to him. He'll understand. His family will understand. They'll pray about it and make the right decision. I've got no doubt about that, but as we go through this, somebody's got to think where let's go from here

Harry Enten, CNN Senior Data Reporter said On Monday, he would “roll the dice” on Vice President Kamala Harris as Biden's replacement if he were a Democratic donor, as he is polling better with independent voters.

“If you look at the polling average, he's actually doing a little bit better than Joe Biden versus Donald Trump,” Enten said. “While Joe Biden is behind Donald Trump by three points nationally in an average of the polls, Kamala Harris is only behind Donald Trump by a single point. And the reason for that is, remember, we have the left side of this country, Democrat, we have the right side of this country, Republican, but elections are usually won in the middle, among independents.”

Carville before described Harris as the “most predictable politician I've ever seen,” while Cuomo characterized her as Biden's Achilles heel.
