President Biden contradicted Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday, finally admitting that the US border with Mexico is not, in fact, secure.
Biden had just finished addressing a bipartisan group of mayors in the East Room of the White House, assuring them that he is ready for “massive changes” in America's immigration policy when a reporter he asked directly if he thought the border was secure.
“No, it's not,” said the president. “I couldn't believe it for the last ten years.”
“And I've been saying that for the last ten years,” he continued. “Give me the money!”
“I've ordered thousands more, everything from judges to, anyway,” muttered the commander-in-chief.

The comments come a week after Biden buried himself in backlash denying to another journalist that there was a crisis at the border.

Speaking to the mayors, Biden said he is “ready to act” on immigration if Republicans just “weaponize” the issue to make him look bad.
“My team has been at the table for weeks with a bipartisan group of senators to negotiate a deal, including the border, because I believe we need significant policy changes on the border, including changes to our asylum system to ensure that we have authorities. you need to control the border,” Biden said CNN. “And I'm ready to act.”
“I think next week we should be able to work something out, at least in the Senate. And I'm hopeful that it will be a bipartisan package of senators who will pass it, God willing,” he said. “Now the question for the speaker and House Republicans: Are they willing to act, too?”
“They have to choose whether they want to solve a problem or continue to weaponize the issue to score political points against the president,” Biden told the mayors. “I'm ready to solve the problem.”

The comments punctuate what is clearly a shift in the border narrative of the Biden administration, which is being helped by a compliant press.
Instead of denying what everyone can clearly see, the new message seems to be that immigration has been an issue that has plagued presidents for decades and Biden would fix it, if it weren't for those pesky conservatives.
“His comments sounded the most optimistic note yet that a breakthrough on immigration, an issue that has vexed Biden throughout his presidency, could be imminent,” reports CNN. “The problem has plagued Congress and presidents — Democrats and Republicans — for decades.”
Republicans “got in the way on border security!” Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre exclaimed Wednesday, falsely claiming that Republican lawmakers voted to cut the number of Border Patrol agents.

Biden's admission that the border is not secure was met with a good deal of cynicism.
It must be an election year.

I wonder why their managers have chosen to change the narrative all of a sudden?

“Of course… he's down in the polls because of his disastrous open borders policy,” one user reasoned. “He doesn't care about the American people… it's all about votes.”
