The exact names of the hostages to be released have not yet been released by the government, but officials say those freed will be Israelis, some of whom hold dual nationalities.

Among the dual nationals is Abigail Edan, a 3-year-old Israeli-American who was orphaned when her parents were killed by Hamas.

Liz Hirsh Naftali, Edan’s great aunt, spoke of the “excruciating” wait to find out if her great-niece is coming home.

“For our family, we’ve spent the last seven weeks worrying, wondering, praying, waiting,” he said.

The family hopes Abigail will be one of the first to be released. Abigail is the youngest American hostage. He has a 6-year-old sister and a 10-year-old brother, who saw their parents killed by Hamas on Oct. 7, Naftali said. They hid in a closet for 14 hours, he said.

“The one thing we’re all holding on to is the hope that now that Abigail is coming home, she’s coming home on Friday,” he said. “Friday is her 4th birthday. We have to see Abigail come out and then we can believe it.”
