False equivalence. It’s not for propaganda.
It’s because this age (mine of course) loves TikTok and if their government took it away by force, they’d lose their minds. In any case, it is anti-democratic propaganda promoted by our own democratic government.
That’s why I’m glad Trump didn’t ban it. Let the Democrats do it (although I still think it’s not a problem now that Oracle owns and hosts all the US data).
And if we are really worried about the Chinese government spying on us, IMO they would do it through already existing companies that already have branches, sales and remote satellite offices in China.
idk As an IT guy, I think a TikTok ban is a VERY slippery slope.
