A baby could now be counted among the victims of open border policies after police in Maryland arrested a twice-released Salvadoran national in connection with his murder.

The murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, allegedly at the hands of an illegal alien from Venezuela, reinforced the dangers to the public of the administration's management of the border. President Joe Biden. Along with the cities' soft-on-crime policies, the February 8 death of a two-year-old boy in Langley Park, Maryland, has been linked to multiple missed opportunities to deport 25-year-old Nilson Trejo-Granados , from El Salvador.

The Prince George's County Police Department released a statement Monday marking the suspect as the fifth arrest after “two groups of men exchanged gunfire near where the victim and her mother were walking,” leading to charges of first and second degree murder for the death of Jeremy Poou-Càceres.

As the alien remained in the custody of the Department of Corrections without bond, Fox 5 Washington, DC reported that the Montgomery County Detention Center held Trejo-Granados in its custody twice in 2023 and twice refused to comply with an immigration detainer from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

According to federal agency records, an immigration judge at the Newark, New Jersey Department of Justice had initially ordered his removal from the country on November 7, 2022. Months later, he was arrested on March 21, 2023 by the Montgomery County Police Department on theft charges.

ICE issued the Montgomery County Detention Center a detainer the next day. However, MCDC refused to honor the request and released the suspect on March 27, 2023. The same cycle repeated itself when Trejo-Granados was arrested on robbery and other charges on September 26, 2023 only to be released by MCDC on October 12, 2023. after ICE issued another detainer.

The Maryland news followed an earlier report of the arrest of a Honduran national in Fairfax County, Virginia, on charges that included 10 counts of child pornography and two counts of unlawfully creating a video image or fixed of a minor.

In reaction to the arrest, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) spokesman James Covington told Fox 5 how his agency “filed an immigration detainer against [the suspect] with the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center following his Feb. 9 arrest. As part of our mission to identify and arrest removable noncitizens, ERO files immigration detainers against noncitizens who have been arrested for criminal activity and detained by state or local law enforcement. “

“The lack of cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration officers means that non-citizen criminals are released back into our communities with the opportunity to reoffend before being apprehended by ERO,” he said. the spokesperson

As with Trejo-Granados, Jose Antonio Ibarrathe Venezuelan suspect accused of murdering Riley, had been arrested twice after entering the United States illegally under Biden's watch and he too had not been deported when the opportunity arose.
