‘I’ll kick your ass**’: McCarthy threatened to hit Swalwell after he called him ‘P*ssy’

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and California Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell got into a heated spat on the House floor on June 22, according to multiple reports.

This incident was reported by the Daily Beast, citing two anonymous congressional sources. The fight allegedly originated during a vote to censure Democratic Representative Adam Schiff of California. The resolution seeking to expel Schiff from the US House was proposed by Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, and the vote took place on June 21.

“This is pathetic,” Swalwell told McCarthy. “You are weak. You are a weak man.”

The next day, as Swalwell made his way to the toilets outside the chamber of Congress before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s joint address to Congress, McCarthy is said to have confronted him. He warned Swalwell: “If you ever say anything like that to me again, I’ll kick the crap out of you.”

Although the situation did not turn into a physical confrontation, the atmosphere was full of information.

“They were face to face. Basically nose to nose,” the source said, according to the Daily Beast. Swalwell responded with something like, “Are we really going to do this?”

“Call me cunt again and I’ll kick your ass,” McCarthy replied.

Schiff’s no-confidence vote drew a lot of bad blood between Republicans and Democrats.

“Adam Schiff lied to the American people. He used his position in House Intelligence to push a lie that cost American taxpayers millions of dollars and abused the trust placed in him as President. He is a disgrace for the House of Representatives,” Paulina Luna said in a statement.

“The Durham report makes clear that Russian collusion was a lie from day one and Schiff knowingly used his position to try to divide our country,” he added.

After the successful no-confidence vote, Democrats broke into a Game of Thrones-style chant of “Shame! Shame! Shame!”

There’s no love lost between the two Californians: During his tenure as speaker, McCarthy has repeatedly gone after Swalwell with fervor and enthusiasm.

One of McCarthy’s first actions in office included removing Swalwell from the House Intelligence Committee after credible allegations that Swalwell had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy. Schiff, the top Democrat on the committee, was also removed.
