Ilhan Omar solicits campaign donations from X with anti-AIPAC ads

A 'Squad' member's latest cry for campaign cash on social media was deemed a successful fundraising move – for his opposition.

In addition to facing a repeat primary challenge from former Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar (D) marked herself among anti-Israel members of Congress feeling the heat from the Committee of American Israel Public Affairs (AIPAC).

Recently, while many leftist organizations have pulled their X ads about Elon Musk's stances on free speech, Omar's personal account was caught with an anti-AIPAC argument that, according to comments , seemed to be a boon for the defense group.

“Can you rush a donation to Ilhan Omar's re-election campaign right now and help us have the resources to fight AIPAC and their dark money super PAC trying to defeat us?” read an ad “They might have a lot of money, but we have each other, and that's how we're going to win.”

The post included a quote from The Daily Beast article titled “The team faces an 'existential threat' in 2024” which said: “One of the most powerful forces in American politics… s 'hope it will unleash a historic deluge of money in 2024. to defeat leftist incumbents in primaries….[AIPAC] could spend as much as $100 million, a figure AIPAC has neither confirmed nor denied.”

Another ad with an identical timestamp quoted the same article with the headline: “URGENT! AIPAC and outside financial groups are preparing to spend over $100 BILLION to try to unseat progressives in Congress. We've seen this before. We won't let them do that again.”

The Somali-born congresswoman had been removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee earlier this year over remarks deemed anti-Semitic and her reaction to the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas, along with the later censured Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib. and other progressive lawmakers, had led to the coining of the collective moniker of the Hamas Caucus.

Anti-Israel rhetoric from others such as Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Pennsylvania Rep. Summer Lee had prompted the team to seek help from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) in hopes of protecting the their radical members from the expensive primary races they could see. they were ousted from power.

“If we have to spend a lot of money to keep our incumbents in office,” he lamented Jayapal in November, “then it's less money that's being spent on front-line districts and districts that we can pick up, so it's a real problem.”

AIPAC's focus on Omar had come earlier jihadist attacks on Israel and left her asking for even small dollar donations like a previous announcement read “please do not scroll past this”.

Now the organization appeared to benefit, as users commented on the “great fundraising message for AIPAC.”
