Tom Perez, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, rejected the views of voters in favor of the mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
President Joe Biden's top adviser touted the current administration's immigration policies in an appearance on CBS News, mocking poll numbers showing more than half of voters want to deport illegal immigrants .
Perez applauded Biden's executive order this week that cleared the path to citizenship for thousands of people in the country illegally.
“It's the right thing to do, it's the right thing to do, and it's the smart thing to do,” he said, saying the president took a “balanced approach” to the border crisis.
But given the reality that “a lot of voters seem to think he's not the smartest,” Perez questioned the poll's accuracy.
When asked if Pres. Biden's new program that provides legal status to some undocumented spouses of US citizens will be struck down by the courts, says senior Biden adviser Tom Perez:

“I would love to sit down with your polling team and show them how wrong they are,” Perez said, adding that he has seen very different conclusions from other polls.
A recent CBS News/YouGov poll appeared to confirm that a national mass deportation program is something most registered voters support, including demographics that generally lean Democratic.
“Do you support or oppose the United States government starting a new national program to deport all undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States illegally?” asked the survey of registered voters conducted June 5-7, 2024.
While 38% of respondents opposed the plan, a plurality of 62% of Americans support the idea that Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, has promoted as part of his re-election campaign. Perhaps more telling, 53 percent of Hispanics polled said they would “favor” deporting illegal immigrants, while 47 percent said they would oppose such a plan.
Mass deportation is now popular.
A majority of registered voters favor “a new national program to deport all undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States illegally,” 62 percent to 38 percent.
THE MAJORITY OF HISPANICS favor mass deportation, 53-47%.

Perez insisted that Biden's policies are morally and legally the “right thing.”
“We're keeping families together, communities together, and we have a labor shortage,” he said.
Social media users disagreed with Perez and the narrative he was pushing.
It's not right and it's not legal.

It is a desperate move to buy votes.

I love how the same people who called Trump's “presidential executive orders” an illegal way to govern are completely fine with Biden doing the same. Now what's it called again??? Hypocrite? Ahhh. Yes. This is

It is not the right thing, nor the legal thing, nor the smart thing.
It is literally the antithesis of each of these things.
It has become very obvious that you and most other media outlets are nothing more than propaganda machines for the Democrat party.— Princeps Romanus (@TheDarklord76) June 19, 2024
