Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie bragged about his fighting skills in a hypothetical matchup against Donald Trump, either on the campaign trail or in a UFC octagon.
The former New Jersey governor made the remarks on Talk TV’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”
“I’d kick him.”

“If you and Trump got in the ring, he loves his UFC and stuff like that, right? If you got in the octagon, you and him, who would win?” Morgan asked. “Come on.”
“The guy is 78 years old. I would kick his ass,” Christie said with a laugh.
“I mean, we know that Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are apparently going to come in,” Morgan commented.
“Yeah, I can’t wait,” Christie said.
“One: you want, you want to be in the…”
“Did you see this picture of Zuckerberg?” Christie interjected. “Very fond. If I were Elon, I’d be a little worried.”
“But I mean, would you prepare, would you be prepared to be on the undercard against Trump?” Piers asked.
“Look, I’ll fight Donald Trump wherever he wants, in any arena,” Christie responded. “Whether it’s on a debate stage or in the octagon.”
“He made fun of your weight,” Piers pointed out. “Trump”.
“Yes. look at him Arnold Schwarzenegger,” he joked. “I mean, for God’s sake. Come on.”
“Here’s the, here’s the bottom line, Piers,” he continued. “I, you know, for the last 30 years have struggled with my weight. Like tens of millions of Americans struggle with their weight and there are times when I’m good and there are times when I’m not good. And it’s a struggle. And for him to be a kid, a baby, and make those kinds of comments, especially I guess when he stays in Bedminster, New Jersey, there’s no mirrors where he’s at because all he has to do is look at himself himself and what he should do first by working on himself. Then when he gets it because, you know, he wears these, you know, eight-foot-long ties…”
“Those long ties, yes,” added Piers.
“Yes, eight feet long,” Christie continued. “Because he told me because he was slimmed down. Let me tell you. It fails.”
Christie’s message dovetails with a recent 60-second ad painting his presidential rival as a “coward” for not engaging in the primary debates.
“If you don’t go, you’ll be called a coward, a chicken, reduced to throwing balls of saliva from the sidelines,” says the ad’s narrator. “So Donald you have to decide, are you a chicken or just a loser?”
The announcement comes from Tell It Like It Is PAC, Christie’s super political action committee. According to Bloomberg News, the PAC “has booked about $122,000 in ad time, mostly online and in the first-ballot state of New Hampshire, according to ad-tracking firm AdImpact.” Christie’s campaign told Bloomberg on Saturday that the PAC and campaign had raised “a combined $7.5 million in the second quarter.”
Trump has explained that he might skip the primary debates because he does not want to give a platform to his opponents.
“So you’re leading people by 50 and 60 points, and you say, why would you have a debate?” Trump said in an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures. “It’s not really fair. Why would you let someone who’s at zero or one or two or three ask you questions?
Donald Trump previously mocked the former New Jersey governor for allegedly being “low energy,” as he shared a photo of Christie falling asleep on a plane flight.

“Living rent-free in Donald’s head,” Christie remarked, as he appealed to the audience and asked for campaign donations. “Make me a permanent resident.”
The Republican primaries are turning into UFC-style theater at a time when the country is facing major national challenges. But sexist jokes in American politics are nothing new.
In 2019, then-presidential candidate Joe Biden challenged Donald Trump to a push-up contest in a supposed show of manhood.
“I would say, ‘Come on Donald, come on man. How many push-ups do you want to do here, mate? Just kidding,” Biden said in an interview on MSNBC. “You know, come on, run with me man.”
During the 2024 campaign, Trump has made several appearances at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events. He has publicly shown himself to entertainers and athletes such as Mike Tyson, Kid Rock, Mel Gibson, Joe Rogan and Guy Fieri, as well as being close with UFC President Dana White.
Trump’s recent appearance at UFC 290 served as a reminder of his deep connections to MMA and the UFC, indicating that the promotion will likely play a large role in his upcoming campaign. UFC fighters went out of their way during the fight to shake hands and interact with the former president.

As Bloody Elbow explains, Trump’s courting of UFC fighters and influential “alpha males” on the campaign trail is a foray into young male voters.
“Doing non-traditional media and appearing at major cultural events like UFC fights allows former President Trump to reach a completely different audience than doing an interview on Fox News or other political outlets. He’s putting himself in front of from people who are much less politically engaged and who don’t necessarily have a view of him,” said Republican strategist Andy Surabian.
A UFC fight between Trump and Christie would be the kind of draw that would capture the imagination of younger and working-class American men. Whether or not Chris Christie will kick Trump’s “***,” in the Octagon or on a debate stage, is a question that could only be settled in a man-to-man showdown.
