In a move that only a drug-addled mind (or someone who believes he's immune to consequences) could think is a good idea, Hunter Biden defied a congressional subpoena to testify behind closed doors today.
According to the Post Millennial:
Hunter Biden arrived in Washington DC on Wednesday morning, not to appear in a statement before Congress to respond to allegations of shady business deals and influence peddling by him and members of his family, but to make a statement on the Capitol lawn, calling the committee's investigation “illegitimate.”
Speaking outside the Capitol, Hunter Biden said: “Here I am, Mr. President, taking you up on your offer when you said we could bring these people in for depositions or committee hearings, whatever they want. Well, I've chosen, I'm here. to testify today at a public hearing to answer any of the committee's legitimate questions.”
“Republicans don't want an open process where Americans can see their tactics, expose their baseless research or hear what I have to say. What are they afraid of? I'm here, I'm ready.”
Before Hunter spoke to challenge a subpoena, Jim Jordan and James Comer threatened him with contempt in Congress.
After Hunter's brief speech, the seat for which appears to have been reserved by another China enthusiast Eric SwalwellJordan told reporters they still hope to impeach him and are “more than happy” to have a public hearing with him.
Meanwhile, Comer said “We will look at the contempt proceedings as we go forward,” adding that he expects an official impeachment inquiry to pass on the floor.
When former Trump campaign strategist Steve Bannon ignored a subpoena to testify on Jan. 6, he was sentenced to four months in prison (which is being appealed). Will the president's son have the same rule?
