TWashington Examiner Editor-in-Chief Hugo Gurdon broke down the low approval ratings of the leading candidates in the 2024 presidential election.
Speaking of former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who are leading Republicans in the polls, Gurdon speculated that DeSantis is more likely to be Trump’s running mate than his running mate. Trump has made DeSantis his top political target. Gurdon noted that Trump expressed his desire to “ruin DeSantis,” which makes him skeptical of joining forces.

“A PAC that supports DeSantis is coming out with ads in primary states, the primary states will only come out on Monday. And you see the people in that ad are pasting DeSantis ads over Trump’s 2016 ads,” Gurdon said. “He’s clearly shaping up to be Trump’s replacement.”
“I think DeSantis probably, like everybody else, recognizes that Trump is likely to lose to Biden, he’s already lost once. Most people think he would lose again,” Gurdon continued. “He’s actually lost support since the last contest against Biden in 2020.”

Meanwhile, a poll last week reported that 47 percent of all voters disapproved of either Trump or Biden as president. However, a majority of that group would choose Biden over the former president, who Gurdon predicted “has the makings of a Biden-to-Trump landslide.”
In another recent poll, DeSantis lost nine points in his approval rating, giving way to Trump.
