On Tuesday night, President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden squared off in the first presidential debate of 2020. It was a fiery exchange, with both candidates clashing on a variety of topics. However, it was clear that Trump had the upper hand, as he repeatedly “owned” Biden in real time.

Trump began the debate by attacking Biden’s record as Vice President, accusing him of failing to deliver on his promises. He also criticized Biden for supporting the Paris Climate Agreement, saying it was a bad deal for the United States. Trump then went after Biden for his son’s involvement in Ukrainian business dealings, a topic that Biden was clearly uncomfortable discussing.

Throughout the debate, Trump continued to press Biden on his record and his plans for the future. He accused Biden of wanting to raise taxes and of supporting policies that would cripple the economy. Trump also went after Biden for his past support of the Iraq War, saying it was a disaster.

The most memorable moment of the debate came when Trump asked Biden to name one accomplishment he had achieved as Vice President. Biden struggled to answer the question, and Trump seized the opportunity to mock him. He said, “I don’t think you have any accomplishments. I don’t think you have done anything.”

The debate ended with Trump firmly in control, as he had managed to score several points against Biden. Trump’s ability to dominate the debate was impressive, and it is clear that he was the clear victor. Biden was unable to defend himself against Trump’s attacks, and his performance was lacklustre. It appears that Trump was able to “own” Biden in real time, and it will be interesting to see how this affects the race for the White House in the coming weeks.
