The House Republican campaign arm is releasing a new digital ad, shared for the first time with the Daily Caller News Foundation, targeting President Joe Biden and Democrats over the crisis at the southern border.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) publishes the adtitled “Biden's Border Crisis,” in the midst of a contentious election year where immigration is a primary issue for voters. The video shows footage of crossings at the southern border, along with media clips of migrants thanking the president for letting them into the country.
“Extreme Democrats in the House have gotten themselves into so many knots trying to ignore the border crisis that they should be awarded a Boy Scout merit badge,” Will Reinert, national press secretary for the NRCC, told the DCNF in a statement . “Unfortunately for Democrats in Washington, their political stunts do not align with the views of Americans who think their policies are radical and unserious.”
One of the interactions shown in the video was one interview between the DCNF and a Venezuelan man who was recently released into the country. The migrant thanked Biden for “this opportunity,” adding that “without your help we wouldn't be here.”
Another migrant depicted in the video said: “I love you, Joe Biden. Thank you for everything, Joe Biden.”
The video also featured clips of White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, Vice President Kamala Harris and former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“The president has taken this issue very seriously,” Jean-Pierre said in the video.
“We have a secure border,” Harris can be heard saying.
The video also includes a compilation of media reports and statistics about border crossings, the strain on Border Patrol agents, and Americans' concerns about the issue.
“Extreme Democrats invited a border crisis…but refuse to acknowledge it,” the video shows. “Now Americans are worried… Republicans are ready to secure the border.”
The NRCC announcement comes as leaders from the White House and Congress negotiate in a border and foreign aid agreement. House Republicans are doing it, too hearings centered on the impeachment proceedings against the secretary of the Department of National Security, Alejandro Mayorkas.
The Biden administration has seen a record amount of illegal immigration, with more than 2.2 million encounters in fiscal year 2022 and more than 2 million in fiscal year 2023. seconds in Customs and Border Protection.
