According to The Irish Times, protesters had gathered outside the hotel which had not been used for an unspecified number of years after the Department for Children, Equality, Disability, Inclusion and Youth announced on Friday that it 'had to accommodate 70 applicants for international protection. there thursday
Activist Tommy Robinson shared images of the hotel on Saturday after it “mysteriously caught fire”, prompting Ian Miles Cheong to comment on the incident: “The Irish are sending a message”.

In a statement from An Garda Síochána, the National Police of Ireland, a spokesperson expressed that the fire is being investigated as an “incident of criminal damage caused by fire”.
“The incident happened at around 11.35pm and the fire brigade then brought the fire under control,” the spokesman said. “There were no people inside the building at the time of the incident. The scene has been preserved and a technical examination will be carried out today.”
In reaction to the alleged fire, the Minister of the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O'Gorman, went to X to report the damage caused and the alleged “fear driving” involved it brought
“Deeply disturbing news from Galway last night,” O'Gorman wrote. “Politicians from all walks of life should condemn this disgraceful act and the fear that led to it.”

The citizens of Ireland were said to have approved the “breaking point” in November, when a man, later described as an immigrant from Algeria, had stabbed several people in Dublin, including three children.
As the unrest unfolded, MMA fighter Conor McGregor's comments about the government's failures to tackle the crisis and the sentiment that “Ireland is full” propelled the popular native to the top of the list as presidential favorite for many

“Greed by failed hoteliers and building owners, as well as bus companies. Destabilization by the government. Surely, it is that. You cannot tell me that this procedure is not a big lapse in the security of our country”, he argued.

Calling out the Irish prime minister, McGregor added: “You said you're not asking our communities for permission if you can house these people in our cities, you're saying. The communities will give you the same courtesy and not tell you that they will stop it. You are harboring the ruin of Ireland. Shame on your mother.”
Similar sentiments were shared on social media as users expressed their favor for the result that prevented aliens from being welcomed into the village in a serious and sarcastic manner.
What a pity for the people of County Galway.
