Eight Republicans joined Democrats on Monday in voting against the impeachment of Interior Department Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The vote in favor of a landmark motion effectively tabled HR 863, the resolution to impeach Mayorkas offered by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia, and sent it back to committee:

“Our border is wide open and Americans are dying every day. It’s time for Congress to hold the Biden administration accountable,” he said. “Time to IMPEACH Mayorkas.”
“Tonight, the House will vote on the Democratic motion to introduce (kill) my articles of impeachment against Mayorkas,” he continued. “All Republicans should stand firm and vote AGAINST the motion.”
“A table vote is a vote with the Democrats to protect Mayorkas and against impeachment,” he added.
It’s not exactly a vote of confidence in these 20 Republicans that they can’t show up to vote against continuing Biden’s historic border crisis.
The GOP needs to do something besides talk or the party will risk the 2024 election just as it squandered the last three national elections.
