Harris' potential vice-presidential pick bears an “eerie” resemblance to Barack Obama

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has a “creepy” cadence too similar to that of former President Barack Obama, critics say.

Shapiro, who will likely be selected as presidential candidate Kamala Harris' running mate, sometimes sounds like Obama.

Even “The Daily Show,” a bastion of far-left “comedy,” has taken notice.

“I wouldn't be surprised if Obama asked him [Shapiro] for his birth certificate,” said the show's latest host, Ronny Chieng, during a recent episode.

But not everyone on the left thinks it's funny.

“It's horrifying,” said a Democratic operative New York Postcommenting on Shapiro's cadence.

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich thinks the cadence may be on purpose.

“It's probably . . . doing the Obama speeches and trying to cut back on all the gestures,” he told the Post. “Sounds like intentional impersonation to me.”

“It reminds me a lot of how I copy Elvis when I sing 'Jailhouse Rock,' which I did in prison in my band G-Rod and the Jailhouse Rockers,” he added, referring to the jail time he served after try to sell Obama's. former seat of the Senate.

Carnegie Mellon University professor Rita Singh, an expert on human voices, disagrees.

Shapiro commented on the similarities when asked Friday about Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance's insistence that “if he really tried to do a bad impression of Barack Obama, this is what it would look like.”

“Barack Obama was probably our most gifted speaker of my time, so that's a weird insult,” Shapiro responded.

Many would argue that Obama was also the biggest liar, demagogue, and con man to ever serve as president, so there's that.

But there has also been some criticism, with a number of critics accusing the potential vice-presidential pick of being “fake” and committing “cultural appropriation”.

Unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but that's partly why I'm not sold on it. I find it too performative and a bit fake. There was only one Obama. I love him as a governor, and I think he is a great speaker, but he is better when he speaks more naturally.

Josh Shapiro has spent too many hours hitting the back button for five seconds at a time. It comes across as an excessive impersonation of the Big Man himself. Derived style points aren't really style points at all. Vote Josh for VP, or top Obama contender, whatever.

There is, however, one giant difference between Shapiro and Obama: Shapiro is Jewish, and many Democrats don't like that. In fact, a whole movement has sprung up pushing Shapiro back as a possible choice for vice president, largely because he's Jewish.

No Genocide Josh, a group lobbying against his potential appointment, is particularly upset because he once described Palestinians as essentially hateful people unable to live in peace with Jews.

Vice President Harris must select a vice presidential nominee who will help win the trust of working-class, progressive, and youth voters.
