Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst found himself in danger while reporting from Sderot, Israel on Friday. He explained that a rocket fired by Hamas militants landed “very close to where the journalists were covering the situation on the border”.

He later took to X and shared a clip of the moment the rocket hit his side.

Yingst and his crew took cover before showing the incident on air. He was visibly shaken and out of breath after the near miss.

“Guys, us. We’re alone. We could hear a direct hit. A rocket just hit the building right next to where we are. You can see the soldiers just arrived on the scene,” he told l air

“I just want to give you a little bit of time here, what was the situation here,” Yingst added.

“Okay. So just a moment ago. The sirens were going off. We followed our plan. We went straight to cover. And then we heard a loud explosion. Rocking the ground next to us. Looks like there was a direct hit. That was not intercepted. It was a massive explosion. And you can see the car right there has some damage,” the reporter explained.

“There don’t seem to be any casualties. But this is very close to where the reporters have been covering the situation at the border. And there’s some kind of siren going from inside the building. And just a pan here,” he said. comment Yingst for viewers.

“Excuse me sir. And here you can see that this car has some damage. And this is all very fresh just a moment ago. So let me tell you what happened here, guys. We’re right along the border between Israel and Gaza. This area has not caught fire very recently,” the journalist continued.

Yingst then gave a blow-by-blow of exactly what happened and how horrifying it was.

“We saw something come out of the Gaza Strip. The sirens went off. You have about 10 seconds to cover here. I’m a little out of breath because we ran straight for cover. Something went past the missile defense system of “Israel and it crashed into the ground. We’re not sure what kind of damage was done to the building,” he said.

“And in this building right here, it’s the same building we’ve been next to. It is a kindergarten, actually, that was affected. There were no students inside. And it’s night and it’s also Shabbat. But there are a lot of journalists around, again, no casualties, but quite a bit of shrapnel in that area,” Yingst reported shakily.

It was obviously a very, very close call. Everything goes with reporting on the front lines of a war.

“How many feet away from you did the rocket land? I mean, that was pretty close,” outnumbered co-host Kayleigh McEnany asked Yingst.

“Yes. This landed, maybe a hundred feet from where we were. But again, we have safety protocols in place. And, therefore, when something like this happens, we have already discussed what to do,” he told her.

Yingst detailed how they reacted when the sirens went off.

“So you’ll notice we were about to take off and we didn’t actually see that round come out of the Gaza Strip. It may have been mortar fire. We’re still not able to establish whether it was a small rocket or if it was a mortar. But immediately the sirens went off here,” he told McEnany.

“You only have a few seconds to cover. So we didn’t even take the camera out. We immediately got to cover. Our whole crew was covered, but our colleagues who we are close to were right next to us. They were not sheds. Again, no one was hurt here. There are no casualties as far as we can see,” he noted.
