In the early hours of the morning, Friday July 26, there was a 39-year-old man he got closer by five suspects while pumping gas at a station near Mayfair and Capitol in Wauwatosa.
The suspects attempted to steal his vehicle, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

A Wauwatosa police officer, alerted by the sound of gunshots, saw a white sedan drive away from the scene and initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit ended in a minor collision at N. 110th Street and W. Congress Street, causing the suspects to abandon the vehicle and flee on foot.
The intended victim, who had managed to call 911, reported being shot during the attempted robbery.
He explained that he had been confronted by several people, at least one of whom was armed.
In self-defense, he used his firearm, resulting in a shootout before the suspects fled.
The victim was treated by the Wauwatosa Fire Department and taken to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
It is currently unclear if any of the suspects were injured in the exchange.
The white sedan involved was confirmed stolen from Milwaukee on July 24th. One suspect, an 18-year-old man from Milwaukee, was taken into custody.
